Interesting food traditions in Asian countries

As most of us know the continent of Asia varies in many different traditions and cultural habits that for some people of other cultures may seem strange. For example slurping while eating soup is a sign of appreciation for the host, if you don’t slurp the host might think that you are not enjoying the dish. An other unusual habit is the fact that in some parts of the continent people not only eat directly with their fingers but also they don’t use tables or chairs. Instead they gather around the food which is placed on the floor on some type of mat or other floor covering. Also if you leave your chopsticks stuck in the rice it can be considered rude of even some very superstitious people might think that you wish them death. So in conclusion while visiting any asian country you should be really careful to not offend anyone but also you can learn many new things and understand new cultures.  source:  https://www.exoticca.travel/blog/chinese-customs-and-traditions/

What do you expect to be the most important change or development in the world in the next ten years?

I think the biggest and most important change will be that we will replace most energy sources with reusable ones and we will provide ecological alternatives for transportation. Climate change and global warming are becoming more noticeable, and we can see more people that care about the environment and want to help our planet. I think over time the government will contribute to that by making reusable energy sources easily available to people and overall more common. Another thing could be making transportation more ecological for example by introducing more vehicles powered by electricity or solar energy. In my opinion, the next ten years will be devoted to helping our planet.

Do you agree that fake news is a serious problem? Why/Why not?

I think fake news is a serious problem because of how the misinformation can affect our daily life. Something that is directly related to our daily life is politics. We have to be able to trust the people that rule our countries and fake news could make it impossible. We could notice its influence for example during the 2016 election campaign in the US. The election's result was hugely influenced by fake news articles from both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's side. I think the biggest problem right now is the fact that we can't really tell the difference between articles that are true and the ones that are fake. That's why in my opinion fake news is a serious problem and we should find a solution to it.

Is studying abroad a good idea?

Studying abroad is something that's considered by lot of young people, I personally think that it is a great idea. It comes with a lot of benefits, one of them is practicing your language. When you're abroad you are surrounded by native speakers, who can help you with your accent and pronunciation. You can also come across new for eg. work opportunities, that wouldn't be available in your country. However, I think the best part of studying abroad is meeting new people and getting to know their culture. You can make great friendships that will last a long time and your friends can guide you through your first weeks there.

Is social distancing that we all have to practise now difficult or easy for you? Why?

Social distancing is something that we all experience right now. How hard it is for somebody, I think depends on their personality. For me it's not that bad, of course I miss my friends and going out with them but I also appreciate the amount of time that I have for myself. Now I have time to relax, do some stuff that I haven't even thought about when the school was open. I also really like the online learning system for eg. because there are less lessons. However the main advantage of online learning for me is that I can wake up just before the lesson and I don't have to drive to school in a crowded bus.

3 words from the video

rapid - something that happens really quickly eg. The growth of the population was rapid. outbreak - a start of something serious for eg. war, epidemic eg. The outbreak of the epidemic was in November. capacity - the amount that a for eg. building can hold eg. The bus has a seating capacity of 30.

Is the impact of globalization on our life positive or negative?

I think it has a mostly positive impact because even though there were a lot of negative effects like the exchange in diseases (for example smallpox or typhus) which led to devastation of the population in the New World (natives) or the beginning of slavery, it still had a big positive influence on today's world. The most important part was probably the exchange in animals and plants that allowed the population to grow.

Do you think the response of the Polish society and government to the coronavirus epidemic has been appropriate?

I think so far the response has been pretty good, especially the government's part because a few days after the first cases of the virus have been confirmed in Poland, all schools, universities, etc. had been closed. All flights both international and inside the country had been canceled. Both of these actions were meant to help with the spreading of the virus, but some people (mostly young) took the situation too lightly and treated the quarantine as a form of vacation. Even after they were told to stay at home, some of them didn't care and still went out to meet with friends or they organised parties. I think that's the main cause of how the situation in Poland looks right now.

Is lying moraly wrong?

Is lying morally wrong? I think it depends on the reason why you are lying. Of course, it would be great to live in a fully honest world but the reality is that we lie almost every day. However, most of our lies don't really matter. For example white lies, somebody asked you if you liked their outfit and you didn't want to hurt their feelings so you lie and say that you do. These lies are harmless and I don't find them immoral but there could be situations that lying would be inappropriate for eg. when you lie about something important for the person you are talking to or if you lie to your close friend or family member.

My favourite staff member of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel

My favourite staff member: The  Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel is very big so it has a lot of employees, but i think my favourite would be Darvin. He is a doorman and it's not the easiest job. He has to put up with arrogant guests and make sure that people don't leave their cars in front of the hotel for more than 20 minutes which could be quite annoying. However he still manages to look happy and smile all the time. What i also like about him is that he has a sense of humor, he is constantly joking and smiling.  In the video it was also mentioned that he is a former athlete. He used to compete in a dyscipline called high jump but he had to quit because of an injury. I admire him for not giving up after his olympic career got destroyed by the injury, he just moved on with his life and when you look at him in the video he  radiates positive energy which is quite contagous. 🌝
